Purpose/Duties
To provide safe, efficient, reliable means for the movement of people, goods, and services within the Highway 101, Golden Gate Corridor. The District operates and maintains the Golden Gate Bridge in a structurally sound condition, provides public transit services including bus and ferry systems, and carries out its activities in a cost-effective, fiscally responsible manner.

No specific qualifications are required for appointment.
Term Length
2 year terms with reappointment subject to the approval of their respective governing bodies. No term limits.
Number of Members
Nineteen member Board - four representatives from Marin County as follows: two members of the Marin County Board of Supervisors ("BOS"), one Public Member appointed by the BOS, and one appointee of the MCCMC ratified by the BOS.
Reimbursements For Expenses/Per Diem
$50 per meeting, with an annual compensation ceiling of $5,000 for all members except the President who may receive $7,500 annually.
Time and Day of Meetings
Board of Directors meet fourth Fridays of the month; committees meet on various days.
