The Marin County Behavioral Health Board is an advisory board established within the State Welfare and Institutions Code with the purpose of reviewing and evaluating the mental health and substance use programs, services, facilities, and needs of the County. Given County, Health and Human Services, and Behavioral Health and Recovery Services’ goals to create a more equitable County, the Behavioral Health Board has an instrumental role in supporting and ensuring equitable outcomes that meet the behavioral health needs of underserved populations in the County.

One (1) member of the Board shall be a member of the Marin County Board of Supervisors (BOS). Not less than fifty (50) percent of the members shall be consumers and families of consumers. At least twenty (20) percent of the members shall be consumers and at least twenty (20) percent of the members shall be families of consumers. The remaining fifty (50) percent of the members may include representatives of the general public. At least one member shall be members between the ages of 18-25 years to bring perspectives of youth to the Board.

Term Length

3 years per term; may apply for a maximum of 3 consecutive appointments.

Number of Members

Fifteen members.

Reimbursements For Expenses/Per Diem

Reimbursement is authorized for travel expenses.

Beginning October 1, 2022, a stipend will be available for members of boards and commissions who self-certify to household income below the County self-sufficiency standard. For more information or to  apply to the stipend program, see the Board Stipends Program Webpage.

Time and Day of Meetings

Second Tuesday of every month from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at 20 North San Pedro Rd., Point Reyes Room. For specific information regarding upcoming meetings, please call 473-3020 or check the County's meeting calendar here.
