Purpose/Duties
Existing by virtue of Resolution No. 2008-88 of the Board of Supervisors and approval of “The Fiscal Management Consolidation Act” by Marin County voters in November 2008, the Financial Audit Advisory Committee (FAAC) is an advisory commission of the Board of Supervisors. The purpose and duties of the FAAC is to review the annual independent audit of the County's financial records and to encourage business practices in the County that are consistent with generally accepted accounting principles.

Qualifications
Membership of the FAAC shall be composed of nine (9) members appointed by the Board of Supervisors representing the following categories:
- Board of Supervisors (2 members)
- County staff (2 members)
- County residents at-large (2 members)
- Schools representative (1 member)
- Cities and Towns representative (1 member)
- Special Districts representative (1 member)
Term Length
Each member of the FAAC shall serve a three-year term. Upon the establishment of the FAAC, three members shall be appointed to a two-year term, three members shall be appointed to a three-year term, and three members shall be appointed to a four-year term. Members seeking reappointment after their initial term may reapply to the Board of Supervisors at the conclusion of their term. Terms shall expire on the last day of the month of expiration.

Reimbursements For Expenses/Per Diem
Beginning October 1, 2022, a stipend will be available for members of boards and commissions who self-certify to household income below the County self-sufficiency standard. For more information or to apply to the stipend program, see the Board Stipends Program Webpage.
Time and Day of Meetings
The Committee meets on an annual basis, typically in late Winter, to review the County of Marin’s annual independent audits pertaining to the most recent fiscal year ended June 30th.
The next Annual FAAC meeting will be held in person at the Marin County Civic Center, Rm. 324-A on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
